Free Flea control with Puppy and Kitten Vaccination

When you come to Isabelle Vets with a new puppy or kitten it is not just for vaccination. It is for a full clinical examination to ensure that good health is present and to discuss all the important issues of maintaining good health such as worm control, nutrition, veterinary care, exercise regiemes, training, behaviour and flea control.

Flea control is always a pressing issue. Because of our mild climate and high population density we appear to suffer from fleas more than many areas of the UK. We can offer, after examination and if the vet thinks that it is in your puppy or kittens interest, an introductory and FREE offer of Frontline Spot-On. This product is one of the most effective ways of preventing and killing fleas. It is easy to apply by squeezing the liquid contents onto the nape of the neck of your pet, once every month. Please discuss this when you visit the vet.

 Upgrading your Cat's Vaccination

We have been delighted with the uptake of the new Fevaxyn Pentofel cat vaccine from Fort Dodge. We started using this vaccine in the past year. It has produced no serious side effects that we have been aware of ( a few drowsy cats has been the worst we have seen and no more than with any other vaccine). Because of this we are using this vaccine as the routine vaccine for kittens in the practice if owners wish to provide their cat with the broadest protection that we can offer. Pentofel has several additional benefits:

  • It is a completely inactivated vaccine (no live, viral, components)
  • It has a new Calici virus, cat flu strain that supposedly gives broader protection.
  • Feline Chlamydia is incorporated in the vaccine. This disease causes severe and painful conjunctivitis and respiratory signs and is common in Guernsey cats.
  • It is all combined in a single vaccination.

If you wish to upgrade your cat to the Pentofel vaccine please discuss it with your vet. It requires returning with your cat 3 weeks later for another vaccination to boost the Chlamydia and Calici virus fractions of the vaccine. We are offering this at a cost price of only £5.00 for clients who wish to do so.
